.
.What started off as three unsucessful paintings,
covered with gesso and more acrylic paint, sprayed,
wiped, patterns applied and maybe even covered.
First one arrangement on the easel and then another,
then turned over several more times, with more paint,
spraying, scraping and reconnecting previous patterns
with lines and color. The three pieces were almost
independent works. About that time Erin had
challenged us to make a wine glass for class and
that she would provide the wine and wash the cup.
At the same time I was working on a 12" x 12"
series of Rachel's stiletto and enjoying
Smoking Loon merlot...the same wine Erin had the
night the cup was ready to use. Those elements
came together as some what of a still life in all
three works.

The Female Torso

I have been looking for new ideas for the clay
sculptures and Erin suggested the female torso
only...and that sounded like something I had
been studying all along anyway...might as well
put forth the effort in clay. Google'd some images
and did a sketch...good idea Erin.

erin's monday night clay class

2009-5-29 Raku firing for the Monday night class:
Friday afternoon, hot but plenty of beer & food,
Stacy & Karen stop by to watch and fire 2 of Karen's
pieces...loads of fun, great group effort and
participation...everyone had a task.
It has and continues to be "an in the moment
experience."

the first of two pieces I had in the firing.
